This lovely 1.67 carat natural Mexican Fire Opal is a beautiful yellow.
Opal is the one of the October birthstones, as well as the 14th and 34th wedding anniversary stone.

The opal species is divided into three subgroups: precious opal, fire opal and common opal. Their is a considerable variation in physical properties between these groups.
Named for its fire-red to orange colour, Fire Opal is often milky and turbid, and very clear and transparent specimens are extremely rare. Fire Opal is the only variant of opal suitable for faceting, but it is extremely sensitive to stresses. Although Fire Opal does not typically show a play of colour, specimens with this phenomenon do occur.
